What We Believe
We are seekers of truth, in an on-going
dialogue with scripture, with each other, and
with what is going on in the world around us.
We represent many different theological
positions, but we work out of the Reformed
Tradition, begun by John Calvin in 16th
century Geneva, Switzerland. To handle the
Word of God responsibly, Presbyterians have
always stressed the importance of learning.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the
church, and that no single person should have
authority over others in ruling the church.
Therefore, our form of government is by
Elders elected from the congregation and our
ministers, working together.
We believe that God alone rules the world and
is worthy of our worship. We are chosen by
God for service to others as well as for
individual salvation. Our mission is to be
faithful stewards of God’s creation, but we
recognize the human tendency to idolatry and
tyranny. This calls us to work for the
transformation of society by seeking justice
and to reveal God’s grace in places of
suffering and need.
We are committed to being forthright in
affirming what we believe. For membership we
require a public profession of personal faith in
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
