Welcome

Inside the contemporary sanctuary of Zion Presbyterian Church a warm welcome awaits you. Lovely stained glass and beautiful music combine to inspire worship, and a loving congregation nurtures one another as we journey together in faith. Dedicated to our community and those in need around the world, Zion’s members continually seek ways to live out our call to discipleship.

Worshiping God we:
  • Seek spiritual growth as a family
  • Welcome all and Care for one another
  • Celebrate our differences so that no one is excluded
  • Work for the common good
  • Serve with love
The church, shaped like a seashell (an ancient Christian symbol of baptism and rebirth,) is set back from Silvernail Road on a wide green lawn one mile west of Hwy. SS ( Prospect Ave.) We invite you to learn more about Zion by joining us for worship or by contacting our pastor. Come grow with us and know you are welcome!

Worship and Sunday School

Worship - Sunday, 10:30 a.m.
We celebrate communion the first Sunday of every month. (See a sample Bulletin)

Sunday School - Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
You're never too old for Sunday School. We offer interactive classes for all ages that explore the stories and themes of the Bible. Cornerstones (our curriculum) follows the workshop rotation method, a style of teaching that understands and incorporates the variety of ways in which people learn. Separate classes are offered for children, youth and adults. Sunday School runs September 14th through May.

Our Ministries

Local Mission
Our current local mission efforts are an outgrowth of our current church transformation effort. Special efforts have been initiated to better understand the needs of our neighbors. This summer we participated with the Salvation Army and their "Feed the Kids" program that provides free lunches to school aged youth during the summer months to ensure that all children have access to a nutritious lunch even when school is not in session. This program aims to take the place of the free and reduced lunch that many families rely on during the school year to meet the nutritional needs of youth. (Visit Salvation Army Website)

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
In the fall of 2008 Zion sent a team to North Central Iowa to help families impacted by floods earlier in the summer. We were privileged to spend time helping two families get one small step closer to returning to their homes. Read about one of those families and see how the loss of their home has complicated an already difficult life. We worked with David Lucas and visited with his son Daniel while bringing them closer to their goal of being in their home for Christmas.

In 2007 Zion joined with our partner church, Immanuel Presbyterian of Milwaukee, to send a mission team to Gulf Port Mississippi to participate in the ongoing effort to get families back into their homes as a result of the devastation from Hurricane Katrina. Please view the following video to see the continued importance of this mission and the impact being made by Presbyterians from around the country.

Our Mission and Vision

Mission Statement
Welcoming all,
We gather together as a caring church family,
To give thanks and worship God,
To learn from the teachings of Jesus,
To nurture faith and grow in spirit,
And to joyfully share God's love by serving others.
.
Vision Statement
Zion is a growing faith community --
Where long-standing members join with newly-received members to experience spirit-filled worship that informs, comforts, and challenges
Where people from many faith backgrounds, ages, and talents are nurtured and encouraged by one another to thoughtfully explore the meaning of God’s love in their lives and the world
Where seekers and sages alike find renewal through study, music, art, prayer and fellowship;
Where we are called to share and serve others in need, healing what is broken and celebrating what is good.
